When it comes to seafood, there is no place on other to compete with Alaska. The northernmost state of the Union has basically everything when it comes to seafood: a wide variety of species, all of significant size and/or of unbeatable taste, and highly uncontaminated if not entirely pristine marine habitats whose stocks of seafood have been wisely and diligently preserved and harvested in a sustainable fashion. Among all the species of seafood being cultivated responsibly throughout Alaska, one which deserves a higher degree of recognition (and already has it among Alaskans) would have to be the Alaskan prawn.
Larger, meatier and more succulent and delicious than most other prawns in the world, nothing beats an Alaskan prawn. If and when you have the luxury of acquiring some, a good garlic prawns recipe is the best way to go for honoring this priceless delicacy of a seafood specimen. There are a few different ways to create a good garlic prawn recipe, and it all comes down to basically getting the sauce right, and not overdoing the prawns themselves. One good method is to marinate the prawns beforehand in a garlic mixture, and conversely you can do everything in the pan; either way a good garlic prawns recipe will emerge.
In the former method, try marinating the prawns for several hours or overnight in a mixture of white wine, crushed garlic cloves, salt, pepper, and a few fresh crushed herbs (like rosemary, thyme, basil, oregano, dill, etc.). The prawns can be cooked either in the pan or on the grill, or however you want, and the sauce (never forget the sauce) can be made by heating some butter in a pan, adding about a ½ cup of the leftover marinade, a little flour or corn starch, and stirring and reducing over a low flame. The latter method can be achieved by heating a pan over a medium flame, melting a healthy amount of butter, searing the prawns on both sides in the butter, and then removing from the pan; with the prawns out of the pan, add a handful of scallions, minced garlic, salt and pepper and sauté for a few minutes over a low flame. Add a small amount of wine to the pan, and add a touch of cream, mix well and let reduce. Complement with a touch of paprika, and serve alongside sautéed vegetables and rice, and enjoy a perfect garlic prawns recipe.
