If you love to fish then you are always ready with the fishing gear you need for the New Year to come. When your fishing license expires that is the time to check all of your fishing gear. You must make sure all of your fishing gear is working properly for the next year. If however the fishing gear you need for the New Year is not working properly then you must replace it.
You must have the right size fishing rods and reels and they must be working properly in order to catch different kinds and sizes of fish. If you like to fish for the big ones for the sport of fishing you will need to purchase one or two good quality fishing rods and reels. These rods and reels must be large enough to handle the power of the larger fish. You do not want to catch a 9-pound bass on a small rod and reel. The fish will surly shred every gear in such a small rod and reel.
Some fishing enthusiasts like to have two small rod and reels and two large rod and reels. The reason for this is so they always have a back up just encase the fish does manage to be large enough to damage the rod and reel. An extra rod and reel is also good for the accidental loss of a rod and reel; that a fish might want to keep and take with him when you are not looking.

Try your hand at catching some small perch a tiny, small perch is the best bait in the world for a large big bass.
The smaller rods and reels are perfect for this tiny baitfish. The tiny rods and reels also help you to pass the time if there is a lull in catching the bigger fish as well. Along with the rods and reels, you will need to stock up your tackle box for the New Year to come. If you have lost lures this is the time to replace them, lures can deteriorate over time and if a large enough fish hits an old lure you can loose the fish and the lure both.
You will need plenty of fishhooks in different sizes large small and in between, you will need weights in different sizes as well. Make sure your tackle box has everything you need and that these things are all working properly like fishhook removing pliers. Then your fishing gear you need for the New Year will be all ready to go.
